James P. Masciarelli

James Masciarelli is an entrepreneur, private investor, and CEO coach. He has dedicated his professional life to coaching leaders and building executive teams. He has founded and grown several companies as CEO.

Jim has served as an executive consultant to a wide mix of industry leaders including: Advanced Technology Laboratories, Apple Computer, Cisco Systems, Citrix Systems, Compaq Computer, Digital Telecommunications Inc., Dynatech, Eastman Kodak, FirstSense Software, Geo-Tel Communications, IBM, Lotus Development, MicroE, Millipore, Sequent Computer, Stratus Computer, Video Server, Wildfire Communications, and XEVO. As a Principal of Walnut Venture Associates he advises and invests in emerging growth information-technology companies in the Northeast. Jim is a board member of the National Association of Corporate Directors of New England and serves as a director and executive advisory board member to several private companies.

Dedicated to lifelong learning, Jim has made contributions in several fields. In the early seventies, as Executive Director of an urban agency, he pioneered a new approach to psychotherapy and counseling for adolescents. His interests then shifted to human resource management in the electronics and computer industry, where he spent several years as Director of North American Human Resources for Data General during its explosive growth years.

In the eighties, Jim co-founded Fenwick Partners, a high-technology retained executive search firm for which he became nationally recognized and was featured in the book, The Career Makers. As CEO, Jim grew the firm over eleven years to a national practice with international affiliates. Fenwick Partners is now part of the global executive search firm, Heidrick and Struggles.

Jim earned an A.B. in Psychology at Holy Cross College, an MBA at Babson College, and did postgraduate work in clinical psychology. A skillful public speaker, he is author of over a dozen nationally published articles and is a guest lecturer at MIT and Harvard Business School.
