Take Your Leadership "Snapshot"

Thought leader Michael Shenkman, President of The Arch of Leadership (Albuquerque, New Mexico) and author of the forthcoming book The Arch and the Path: The Life of Leading Greatly, has spent countless hours observing, mentoring, guiding and transforming leaders at organizational leaders. "How organizations respond to leadership," he reports, "makes all the difference in terms of ultimate performance. Organizations with true leadership are exciting, fun, effective while those without leadership are boring, political, anxious, compromising and mediocre. It's that simple."

Certain aspects of an organization are particularly sensitive to the effect of leading, Michael has found. For that reason, he has developed the "Leadership Snapshot," a diagnostic tool for gauging your organization's leadership health. By taking a quick survey, you can illuminate aspects of your firm that are "ailing," enabling your leadership development efforts to be pointed in the right direction.

thoughts you should know...

Why we call ourselves "emerson" consulting group

Back in the 19th Century, here in Concord, Massachusetts, the great essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson went about his business of communicating great ideas in a variety of ways. Though best known as an author, Mr. Emerson actually made his living as a public speaker, trekking all over the United States by train for much of each year. For Waldo, public speaking as well as published writings served as two principal "thought leader vehicles" for getting his messages out.

But he didn't stop there. His networking activities were beyond compare, routinely exchanging letters and visits with such contemporary thought leader luminaries as Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Walt Whitman, Margaret Fuller, Thomas Carlyle, Charles Dickens, Louisa May Alcott, Bronson Alcott, Henry David Thoreau, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and oh so many more. The mission of emersongroup is to facilitate great and meaningful ideas of the present day. Emerson's approach long ago affords us an obvious and natural model (and symbol) to continue today.
